Association for Computing Machinery Women

Back in college, I had the opportunity to serve as the Association for Computing Machinery - Women chapter president and put myself into a design passion project.

I will admit becoming ACM-W president was serendipity. At the time, my roommate came to me with a problem; she loved ACM-W but was sadly watching as things fell apart, and she wanted a way to help get the spark back.

I had an idea 💡 what if we tried to create a club identity and marketing to help build unity and community?

So, I got to designing and creating our first logo. At the meeting where I presented the design, on the agenda was a discussion on how no one applied for the role of ACM-W president for the next quarter, so I volunteered myself. At least the designs were well received. 😊 This was when I made ACM-W my passion project. Ultimately, my button designs made it to the Grace Hopper conference, and all of them are still used on campus six years later.

These designs, while close to my heart, sadly are not very accessible and should have more care with color contrast ratios, and I truly wish I had the chance to update them to be more inclusive with more variations from our community.
